Warehouse Relocation and Inventory Transfer Services
Presto Logistics provides comprehensive warehouse relocation and inventory transfer services for distribution centers, 3PL providers, and manufacturing facilities across the United States. From our national command center in Simi Valley, CA, we execute the physical migration of palletized inventory, industrial racking systems, and material handling equipment. Our zero-shrink methodology integrates directly with your Warehouse Management System to ensure full inventory reconciliation between origin and destination. With a team of vetted logistics professionals, we handle everything from cross-docking operations to the final seismic anchoring of your new facility's racking, keeping your supply chain unbroken.

The Zero-Shrink Goal
Relocating a warehouse is fundamentally different from moving an office. You aren't just moving furniture; you are moving active revenue.
A delay in the move means orders don't ship, and customers cancel contracts. We operate as a tactical logistics partner, so your product flow continues even while the physical building changes.
Cross-docking and live inventory transfer
For high-velocity distribution centers, shutting down is not an option. We use cross-docking to keep your goods moving. Instead of moving inventory from Shelf A to Shelf B, we intercept inbound shipments at your old dock and route them directly to the new facility or to immediate outbound fulfillment.
This reduces handling costs and keeps your Days Sales of Inventory metrics healthy through the transition.
Working inside your WMS and ERP
Our project managers work in modern ERP and warehouse management environments. We sit with your IT and operations teams to create a data migration roadmap that aligns with the physical move schedule.
We help execute bin-to-bin transfers in your system, so when Pallet 12345 is scanned into Aisle 4 at the new site, your WMS updates in real time. That synchronization is what prevents ghost inventory and picking errors on day one.
SKU mapping and one-touch put-away
Before the move, we assist in SKU mapping the new facility, labelling your new racking locations with barcode or QR placards before the inventory arrives.
Crews with handheld scanners then put stock away directly into its system-assigned location rather than staging it on the floor and handling it twice.
Every pallet is touched once. On a full DC that is thousands of labour hours you never spend.
Racking Teardown and Re-Installation
Your inventory needs a place to sit. Moving the racking is often more complex than moving the product.
Pallet rack and mezzanine disassembly
Our teams handle the teardown of your existing storage systems, systematically dismantling teardrop pallet racks, drive-in systems, and multi-tier mezzanines. We bundle beams and uprights for efficient transport and replace damaged hardware, safety pins and footplates, as we go, so the system is safe for reassembly.
For a new platform rather than a relocated one, see mezzanine installation.
Seismic anchoring and permitting support
Relocating racking, especially in California or other high-seismic zones, requires new permits. We coordinate with local municipal engineers so your reinstalled racking meets current seismic code requirements.
We handle the concrete drilling and installation of seismic wedge anchors, providing the high-pile storage certification you need to legally operate your new warehouse. For a fuller account of the install standard, see racking installation.
Keeping Both Docks Moving
We calculate the cycle time for our trucks between your two facilities and run a continuous loop, so neither dock sits idle waiting for a trailer.
- 01 Spot
- Trailer dropped at the origin dock
- 02 Load
- Filled while the next unit is already inbound
- 03 Drop
- Delivered and detached at the destination
- 04 Return
- Tractor collects the next loaded unit
Drop-and-hook moves millions of pounds in a compressed window without clogging your yard.
The Swing Space Strategy for Overflow Inventory
Sometimes lease timelines don't align, or the new racking isn't ready when the old lease expires.
We provide swing space logistics, using short-term storage trailers or temporary warehousing to hold your inventory securely during the gap.
That buffer is what stops a panic move of product into an unfinished facility, which is how stock gets damaged and reconciliation gets lost. For longer holds, see our commercial storage.
Temperature-Controlled Warehouse Logistics
Relocating a food distribution center or pharmaceutical warehouse requires unbroken temperature integrity.
We specialize in refrigerated warehouse relocation, using reefer units capable of maintaining dual-zone temperatures. We pre-cool trailers prior to loading and use rapid-load protocols to minimize dock exposure time, so your perishable SKUs stay within HACCP or FDA safety guidelines throughout transit.
- Chilled zone
- 34°FProduce and other fresh goods.
- Frozen zone
- −10°FProteins and frozen inventory.
- Dock exposure
- MinimizedTrailers pre-cooled, rapid-load protocol on both ends.
Racking Liquidation and Buyback
If you are upgrading your facility or closing a distribution center, your old racking is an asset, not waste.
We buy used steel
Presto Logistics offers racking buyback. We assess the condition of your teardrop or structural racking and offer credit against your new installation, or a direct cash purchase.
That lets you monetize surplus steel and lower the net cost of the relocation or upgrade.
Certified teardown preserves the value
To maintain resale value, racking has to come down correctly. Demolition crews often bend beams or cut anchors flush, which ruins the material.
Our millwrights perform a certified teardown, carefully unbolting anchors and palletizing beams with protective banding, so the steel holds its value in the secondary market.
How the steel comes down decides what it is worth. That decision gets made on day one of the teardown.
Why Presto Logistics Is the Trusted Partner for Supply Chains
- Transportation services since
- 2007
- Vetted employees

Warehouses are vulnerable to theft, particularly during the chaos of a move.
Presto Logistics mitigates that risk by using only vetted, full-time employees. We do not use day laborers who might slip a high-value SKU into a pocket. Our teams are background-checked and uniformed, which is both a visual deterrent and a secure chain of custody for your electronics, pharmaceuticals, or consumer goods.
Located at 3965 Heritage Oak Ct, we sit at the intersection of major Southern California logistics routes, but our reach is national. We manage warehouse relocations for companies moving from the Inland Empire to Texas, or consolidating regional DCs into a single Midwest hub, with centralized project management keeping labelling, packing, and safety standards consistent across every site.

Frequently Asked Questions About Warehouse Relocation
Something not covered? Call 888-678-6151 and we'll walk the pallet count with you.
How do you track inventory during the move?
We use a pallet-tagging system that integrates with digital manifests. Every pallet is scanned at the origin dock and again at the destination dock. We provide a variance report to reconcile any discrepancies immediately.
Can you dismantle and reinstall our existing pallet racking?
Yes. Our teams dismantle teardrop pallet racks, drive-in systems, and multi-tier mezzanines, bundling beams and uprights for transport and replacing damaged safety pins and footplates as we go. On reinstallation in California we handle the concrete drilling and seismic wedge anchoring, and coordinate with municipal engineers for the high-pile storage certification you need to operate.
How do you minimize downtime for a distribution center?
Two things run in parallel. Cross-docking intercepts inbound shipments at the old dock and routes them straight to the new facility or to outbound fulfillment, so product keeps flowing. Meanwhile a continuous truck loop spots, loads, drops, and returns on a calculated cycle time, so neither dock sits idle waiting for a trailer.
